Microsoft finally decided to release its newest browser, Internet Explorer 8 this week. I originally did not download it since I don’t use IE myself, and they have not yet forced it out via Microsoft Update, however for the purpose or writing a review, I decided I might as well.
The installer is of course one of microsofts fancy ones, and was slow like every other Microsoft installer…
Once it was finally installed, it required me to restart before auctually installing, quite annoying but nonetheless it installed without any problems. Unfortunetly it made me restart, which I hate doing, however the browser literally does not install until you restart. After restart, I finally got it started up
To be honest, I don’t see what they really improved, it looks just like IE8, only in my opinion its a bit uglier. I can say for sure that this is definatly not going to get me using IE again. I’m pretty sure Microsoft wasn’t thinking straight with this one.
Google has recently released their own browser (currently in beta version) called Google Chrome. It is quite simple as of yet, and doesnt have many customizable features. Right now, Id reccomend it for beginners who just want a simple place to type a website address and go to a site, and yes, my favorite browser is still firefox
Google chrome can be downloaded from here: http://www.google.com/chrome

Firefox 3 was released a while back, and I was sorta busy, so I totally misssed it, so here’s the update now. I havent really noticed too many differences, except the big back button. It looks like all the people who make the addons are beginning to update them. It can be downloaded from http://mozilla.org or if you already have it downloaded, just go to the help menu in firefox and go down to check for updates.
Firefox 3 is no longer a beta version, it was released today. So far, there are no features that I have seen that are new from since the beta was released, it still has that big back button >.<. The worst thing Ive noticed so far is the fact that the back and forward buttons are not located on the nav bar by default, you have to enable them. Anyway, it can be downloaded from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Happy browsing

There is a program that allows you to run programs that require Internet Explorer in Firefox. It is called IE tab, and can be downloaded from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419. Unless you are running firefox 3 beta, the newest version will not work. Therefore you must use an earlier version of the program.

I knew that this feature was available for Internet Explorer, however in Firefox it is not specific on how to do this, so I thought I’d better post this. It is quite simple really, all you have to do is go to tools, options, and type in the homepages you want it to open, and break them apart using an | (shift+\).

There is a new web browser that I just learned about. It is called Spacetime, and basically merges a regular web browser, and windows new flip effect. In the background it runs off of IE7. I’ll warn you now, however, it takes a lot of system resources to run this program, especially a good video card. It can be downloaded from http://www.spacetime.com.

Warning: Before you read this, I’d better let you know that this is not a substitute for a good antivirus program.
Now, down to business, these two browser plugins will help you browse safer by giving you community ratings and/or by telling you what they found when they had bots scan the website. The first one is called McAfee Siteadvisor. (Which can be downloaded from: http://www.siteadvisor.com/) It has bots that go to the sites regularly and downloads everything that it can find on the sites to their servers and scans it. This is available for both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
The next one is called Read the rest of this entry…
Firefox seems to be dishing out new versions of Firefox very fast. It seems like just a week ago that there was Firefox 3 beta 3 coming out. Looks like the new version doesn’t have much new, however, except bug fixes. On a side note, according to techwatch.co.uk, Firefox 3 beta is 3 times faster then IE.
